Greetings From…Salt Lake City, Utah [A Travel Guide]

Salt Lake City has a laid back, relaxing and welcoming environment. It averages five days of sunny weather per week. After weeks of rain here in St. Louis, the sun sounds pretty good right now.

Salt Lake City is one of the most unique weather cities in the United States.  Residents and visitors love the long hot summers and snow filled winters. If winter weather is not your thing, the best time to visit is from mid-June to early September.

Why Aero Charter Loves Salt Lake City, Utah

Salt Lake City is home to majestic mountains filled and tremendous outdoor adventure. The Wasatch Mountain range provides a surreal backdrop and offers a variety of hiking options for every skill level. Trails are accessible right outside of town. Or, you can drive further up the range to experience the overwhelming beauty of the canyons found at higher elevations.

When you are in Salt Lake City you have to make a day trip to Arches National Park. The hiking is truly a bucket list experience. If you want all of the beauty but none of the hiking, visitors can navigate the park via car to visit an array of unbelievable stone arch sites.

If you’re not interested in hitting the trails, the Salt Lake Temple is worth seeing. While the original granite temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is currently closed to visitors, it is still a must see. Temple  Square is one of the most popular tourist spots in the state of Utah.

You can’t visit Salt Lake City without visiting the Great Salt Lake.  The lake offers plenty of activities including fishing, swimming, boating or simply enjoying a picnic near the water.   It is the largest lake in Utah cutting through 1,700 miles of the state.  The lake is a natural oddity with its salt mineral deposits formed through ongoing water evaporation.

Best Places to Stay

Kimpton Hotel Monaco is an ideal place to stay for events or trade shows. The IHG hotel is located in the downtown area and offers unique character and modern comforts.

Also located downtown, the  Grand America Hotel offers elegantly furnished rooms with balconies and stunning views of the mountains, skyline and sunset. Located in a prime spot in Salt Lake City, it’s just a short walk from Temple Square and local eateries. The individual rooms are decorated with hand-crafted Richelieu furniture, English wool carpets and Carrara Italian marble.

If you are looking for a one of a kind hotel stay, the Element Salt Lake City Downtown may be for you. The eco-friendly hotel offers fresh, made-to-order breakfasts every day. It also allows guests to borrow bikes to explore the downtown area.

Top Picked Places to Eat & Drink

You have to try the Fried Chicken from Pretty Bird Chicken. The restaurant was opened by Iron Chef award winner Chef Viet Pham. Don’t leave without their famous fried chicken sandwich with a side of crinkle cut fries.

If you’re going to splurge on Salt Lake City’s most high-end restaurant make it a night at Valter’s Osteria. One visit and you will think you have been transported to Italy’s Tuscan countryside. You have to try the lasagna smothered in owner Valter Nassi’s mother’s original meat sauce. Finish off your meal with the lemon gelato served with local honey and salt — it’s a must.

Looking for something a bit more low key, try the Copper Onion. Located in downtown Salt Lake, it focuses on fresh, regional and casual American cuisine. The restaurant is owned and operated by Utah native and former NYC chef, Ryan Lowder.
